When it comes to the solutions available for people suffering from hair loss, there are many options available, but one specifically is making a lot of headlines lately. Follicular Micro Pigmentation, also known as FMP or Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical, less costly procedure using a technique to replicate the appearance of hair follicles, giving the patients a great look almost instantly.
How does the Follicular Micro Pigmentation work?
FMP uses micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp recreating the appearance of each hair follicle, depending on the need of each patient, this procedure can be done to provide density to thinning hair, alter a hair line, give you a more youthful appearance, camouflage scars, add volume and shape to eyebrows or to simulate the look of an “edge up” five o’clock shadow.
What kind of ink is used?
There are many types of pigments available on the market, and it is important to keep in mind that the type of pigment used for tattoos is not the same used for the scalp. At Dr. Yates Hair Science, we use the best quality of organic medical grade pigments that are made exclusively to be used by Dr. William Yates and his professional team.
Can a tattoo artist do my Micro Pigmentation?
Tattoo artists are very gifted artists. Follicular Micro Pigmentation requires additional training and understanding of natural hair growth patterns. We have found the best results are obtained from technicians and doctors who specialize in hair loss and hair restoration. At Dr. Yates Hair Science, our Scalp Micro Pigmentation Technicians specialize in camouflaging techniques, scar revision, pigment restoration. All procedures are done in a medical office. Because we are a Medical Facility, we may utilize prescription strength topical “numbing cream”; however, it is rarely needed due to our top of the line equipment and skill.
Is Scalp Micro Pigmentation the same as Brow Microblading?
No, both procedures use miniature needles to apply pigment but Brow Microblading is applied in a “feather” like motion to replicate the natural growth of eyebrows. Eyebrow Microblading is an extremely popular procedure to achieve natural looking results and Dr. Yates Hair Science can help you achieve it.
Does the Micro Pigmentation hurt?
The process is not painful, but it could be uncomfortable for some patients. Typically, the patient doesn’t need to take any medication before or after the procedure.
How long does the Micro Pigmentation last? Is it forever?
FMP is a semi-permanent procedure with results lasting between 3 to 5 years.
Can I have a Hair Transplant and FMP?
Yes, after you have had a Hair Transplant you can have Follicular Micro Pigmentation to supplement your look and/or to add more density. The time between each procedure depends on each patient and how they heal. Or, you can choose to do the Follicular Micro Pigmentation first for immediate results while you await the growth from your hair transplant.
When considering your options to fight Hair Loss, Dr. Yates can help you explore all the available possibilities to give you the results you need and want.
